Looking for ways to keep the kids busy and stay active now that the holidays are over and the weather has turned cold? Or just hoping to burn off those extra helpings of Aunt Shirley’s stuffing or Grandma’s fudge?
The good news is we’ve got all kinds of winter activities close by — your choice of indoors or out. Here are a couple of my favorites and I invite you to share yours. All the best for an active and healthy 2012!
The Edge Sports Center
191 Hartwell Rd, Bedford MA
The Edge has tons of programs available — here are a couple highlights:
Public Skating
Sundays 3:30-4:40pm, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 11:30am-12:50pm
$5/person, $3/person for seniors and active military and their families, Children under 4 free
Helmets required for age 12 and under
Toddler Play Time
Wednesdays and Fridays 9:00am-11:30am
$5/child, $10/family max
A large turf field is set up with trampoline, bouncy castle, tunnels, balls and more! Parents must stay to supervise, but Wi-fi and coffee available. And did I mention it’s indoors??
Nashoba Valley Ski Area
79 Powers Rd, Westford MA
Skiing, snowboarding, terrain park and tubing park! Also the Outlook Restaurant for dining, as well as live bands on Thurs, Fri and Sat nights for the adults
Great Brook Touring Center
1018 Lowell St, Carlisle MA
10 miles of machine-groomed trails for cross country skiing. Open from 12/1 to 3/20 each year, snow conditions permitting. See website for skiing and rental rates.
